Cancellation Policy

Effective Date: March 15, 2026  |  Last Updated: March 15, 2026

At bidToGig, we want Posters and Giggers to work with confidence. A clear cancellation policy helps protect both sides, sets expectations early, and supports a reliable contractor platform for home owners, individuals, businesses, and service providers.

By using bidToGig, you agree to act honestly, communicate clearly, and avoid unnecessary cancellations once a gig has been assigned. This policy applies to all gigs posted, bid on, assigned, funded through escrow, and managed on bidToGig. Use of our platform constitutes acceptance of this policy alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Key Terms

For the purpose of this policy, the following definitions apply:

  • Poster — A home owner, individual, or business who needs a gig, task, or job done on bidToGig.
  • Gigger — A service provider who subscribes to bidToGig, places bids, and completes gigs or tasks.
  • Assigned Gig — A gig where the Poster has accepted a Gigger's bid or offer.
  • Escrow — Funds held by bidToGig after a Poster accepts a bid and before the Gigger is paid.
  • Gig Price — The total agreed amount for the assigned gig, excluding any taxes required by law.

2. How bidToGig Works

Understanding the platform flow is essential to understanding this cancellation policy:

  • Posters describe tasks and receive AI scoping, paying the agreed task price plus a nominal AI scoping service fee (< CAD $3) to cover real-time AI parameter extraction and computing costs.
  • Giggers pay a subscription to use the platform and place bids on gigs.
  • Once a Poster accepts a Gigger's bid, the agreed funds are held in escrow.
  • When the gig is completed and approved, funds are released to the Gigger.
  • There is zero commission for Giggers on standard gigs. However, for high-value projects of $1,000 or more ($1,000+), bidToGig may apply a project success fee to support payment protection, dispute support, and platform operations.

3. Before a Gig Is Assigned

Prior to assignment, cancellation is simple and fee-free:

  • A Poster may edit, pause, remove, or cancel a gig at any time before accepting a bid.
  • A Gigger may withdraw a bid at any time before it is accepted.
  • No cancellation fee applies where no gig has been assigned and no escrow has been created.

4. After a Gig Is Assigned

Once a gig is assigned, both the Poster and the Gigger are expected to follow through unless there is a valid reason to cancel. All cancellation requests must be submitted through bidToGig to maintain a clear record.

BidToGig may review chat history, timelines, gig scope, uploaded evidence, access records, and payment details when assessing responsibility for a cancellation.

5. Poster-Initiated Cancellation

If a Poster cancels an assigned gig and is found responsible, the following applies:

  • A 14% cancellation fee is charged based on the full Gig Price.
  • This fee will be deducted from the funds held in escrow.
  • The remaining escrow balance will be refunded to the Poster after processing, unless the gig is under active review, dispute, or partial completion assessment.

Example

If the agreed Gig Price is $500 and the Poster cancels after assignment, the cancellation fee is $70 (14%). The remaining balance of $430 may be refunded to the Poster, subject to any active dispute review.

6. Gigger-Initiated Cancellation

If a Gigger cancels an assigned gig and is found responsible, the following applies:

  • A 14% cancellation fee is charged based on the full Gig Price.
  • This fee will be deducted from the Gigger's next payout or from any other amounts owed to the Gigger by bidToGig.
  • The Poster will generally receive a refund of the escrowed gig funds, subject to any dispute, approved partial work claim, or legal requirement.

Example

If the agreed Gig Price is $800 and the Gigger cancels after assignment, the Gigger will be charged $112 (14%), deducted from their next payout.

7. Mutual Cancellations

If both the Poster and the Gigger agree to cancel an assigned gig, BidToGig may treat it as a mutual cancellation. In such cases, the 14% cancellation fee may be waived where records show neither party was primarily at fault. BidToGig reserves the right to request supporting evidence before approving a mutual cancellation.

8. Automated Cancellation Handling

If one party submits a cancellation request and the other party does not respond within a reasonable review window set by bidToGig, the platform may cancel the gig based on available information. Silence, delay, or failure to respond does not automatically remove cancellation responsibility.

9. Poster Responsibilities

Posters are expected to uphold the following before and after assigning a gig:

  • Provide a clear, accurate description of the gig including relevant details, photos, and access requirements.
  • Respond promptly to reasonable questions from Giggers before and after assignment.
  • Be ready and willing to proceed before accepting a bid.
  • Provide safe, lawful, and timely access where the gig requires entry to a property, site, or business.
  • Avoid cancelling for reasons that could have been identified and resolved before assignment.

10. Gigger Responsibilities

Giggers are expected to uphold the following before and after accepting an assignment:

  • Read gig details carefully and ask clarifying questions before bidding.
  • Bid only when you have the necessary skills, tools, qualifications, time, and availability.
  • Show up as agreed and perform the gig professionally.
  • Communicate promptly with the Poster through bidToGig's messaging platform.
  • Avoid cancelling due to poor planning, overbooking, or lack of preparation.

11. Extenuating Circumstances

BidToGig understands some cancellations are unavoidable. In limited cases, a cancellation fee may be reduced or waived where strong evidence shows an unforeseeable event outside the cancelling party's control.

Circumstances we may consider:

  • Government-declared emergencies or public health crises.
  • Natural disasters or severe events that make the gig unsafe or impossible.
  • Legal restrictions that arise after assignment and prevent the gig from proceeding.
  • Serious safety risks discovered after the gig was assigned.

Circumstances that generally will not qualify for a fee waiver:

  • Changing your mind after assignment.
  • Forgetting the agreed schedule.
  • Failing to read the gig description properly before bidding or posting.
  • Lack of tools, staff, transport, or personal planning.
  • Deciding the price no longer works after the gig is assigned.
  • Being unavailable at the agreed time without a compelling documented reason.

BidToGig may request documents, photos, messages, or other proof before deciding whether a fee waiver applies.

12. Partial Work & Disputes

If a gig is cancelled after work has commenced, bidToGig may place the payment on hold while it reviews whether any portion of the work was completed. Evidence such as messages, before-and-after photos, invoices, receipts, and progress updates may be considered. A cancellation request does not automatically cancel a dispute, and a dispute does not automatically remove a cancellation fee.

13. High-Value Projects and Success Fee

Zero commission on standard gigs. For high-value projects of $1,000 or more ($1,000+), bidToGig may apply a project success fee (typically 10%) to support payment protection, dispute support, and platform operations. This project success fee is entirely separate from the 14% cancellation fee. If a high-value gig is cancelled before completion, the success fee does not apply.

Example

If a Gigger completes a gig worth $1,500, bidToGig may apply a $150 project success fee (10%) from the Gigger's payout to support payment protection, dispute support, and platform operations. The Gigger receives $1,350. The Poster pays no platform fee.

14. Subscription Fees

Giggers access bidToGig through a paid subscription model. Unless expressly stated in a separate subscription policy or required by law, subscription fees are not refunded because a gig was cancelled. Cancelling one or more gigs does not cancel a Gigger's subscription.

15. Repeated Cancellations & Misuse

Repeated cancellations harm trust across the marketplace. If a Poster or Gigger repeatedly cancels assigned gigs, ignores commitments, or abuses the cancellation process, bidToGig may take action, including:

  • Formal warnings.
  • Temporary account limits or reduced platform visibility.
  • Suspension of posting or bidding privileges.
  • Permanent account removal at bidToGig's sole discretion.

16. BidToGig's Decision Rights

BidToGig may investigate cancellations, request supporting evidence, and decide how fees, refunds, holds, and account actions should be applied. bidToGig's decisions are final where required to protect the marketplace, prevent abuse, and support fair outcomes between Posters and Giggers.

17. Policy Changes

BidToGig may update this Cancellation Policy from time to time. Any updated version becomes effective when published on the platform. Continued use of bidToGig after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

18. Contact Us
