Trust & Privacy

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 25, 2026

bidToGig.com ("bidToGig," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who use our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, applications, AI-assisted tools, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree that your personal information may be collected, used, and disclosed in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

We aim to follow applicable Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and relevant provincial privacy legislation, as well as other mandatory privacy rules that may apply based on where you live.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

We collect personal information you provide when you create an account, post or respond to Gigs, use AI tools, or contact us, such as:

  • Full name and contact details (email address, phone number).
  • Account login details (username, credentials).
  • Profile information (bio, profile photo, location, services you offer, company details).
  • Gig details and messages (gig descriptions, offers, instructions, attachments, reviews, ratings).
  • Identity verification information (e.g., government-issued ID, selfies, or similar materials for Providers, where required).
  • Payment-related details you provide (for example, billing address; payout account identifiers for Giggers).

1.2 Information we collect automatically

When you access the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as:

  • Device and browser information (device type, operating system, browser type and settings).
  • IP address and general approximate location based on IP.
  • Log data (timestamps, pages or screens viewed, referrer URLs, error reports).
  • Usage data (features used, clicks, search queries, time on page, interactions with AI tools).
  • Session information and identifiers used to keep you logged in and secure.

1.3 AI interaction data

Because bidToGig provides AI-powered features (such as autonomous task scoping, deterministic fair-market pricing estimates, and milestone inspection), we may collect information related to your AI interactions, including:

  • Prompts, voice inputs, questions, and instructions you submit to AI tools.
  • AI-generated outputs (draft messages, gig scoping breakdowns, equipment requirements, recommendations).
  • Feedback you provide about AI responses, and how you interact with them (edit, keep, discard).

We use this AI interaction data to operate and improve our AI features, personalize your experience, detect abuse or fraud, and maintain safety, as explained below.

1.4 Information from other sources

We may also receive information from:

  • Identity verification providers and document verification tools.
  • Payment processors (limited details about payment status, payouts, and chargebacks).
  • Analytics and security partners who help us understand usage and detect abuse.
  • Social or single sign-on providers if you choose to link or log in that way.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information for purposes such as:

  • Operating the Platform: Creating and managing accounts, enabling logins, and providing core marketplace features.
  • Facilitating Gigs: Allowing Gig Posters to post Gigs, Giggers to respond, and both parties to communicate and complete work.
  • AI-powered features: Generating suggested gig descriptions, tool requirements, safety protocols, recommendations, and other AI-assisted content; improving the relevance and quality of AI suggestions over time.
  • Payments and payouts: Processing payments through third-party processors (such as Stripe), issuing refunds, and paying Giggers for completed Gigs.
  • Safety, trust, and fraud prevention: Verifying identities where required, monitoring for fraud, abuse, spam, off-platform circumvention, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
  • Improving the Platform: Analyzing usage trends, diagnosing issues, testing new features, and learning which services and categories are most helpful to users.
  • Communications: Sending service updates, security alerts, transactional messages, and (where allowed by law) marketing or product emails that you can opt out of.
  • Legal compliance: Meeting legal, regulatory, tax, and accounting obligations, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

AI interaction data may be used to personalize your experience (for example, by suggesting relevant categories or templates) and to improve the performance and reliability of AI features, including detecting misuse or unsafe prompts.

4. Identity Verification Data

If we request or support identity verification:

  • Government-issued ID, selfies, and related materials are used only for identity verification, fraud prevention, and compliance purposes.
  • These materials are stored securely, are not displayed publicly, and are shared only with trusted verification providers or authorities where legally required.
  • Identity verification does not mean we endorse or guarantee a user's character, skills, or legal compliance. You should still perform your own checks where appropriate.

5. Payments & Financial Data

We rely on third-party payment processors (such as Stripe) to handle payment transactions on the Platform.

  • No Card Storage: We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. Payment information is handled and stored directly by our payment processors under their own privacy policies.
  • Transaction Metadata: We receive limited information from these processors (for example, whether a payment was successful, failed, refunded, or disputed) and use it to manage bookings, escrow milestone releases, payouts, accounting, and risk management.

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share personal information with:

  • Payment processors and financial institutions: To process payments, manage payouts, and handle chargebacks.
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers: To store data, run servers, and deliver the Platform reliably.
  • Analytics and monitoring partners: To understand usage, improve performance, and detect issues.
  • AI service providers and technology partners: To power AI features while applying appropriate technical and contractual safeguards.
  • Identity verification providers: To help confirm user identities where needed for trust and safety.
  • Professional advisors: Such as lawyers, accountants, or auditors, under confidentiality obligations.
  • Law enforcement and regulators: When required by law or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect people, property, or legal rights.

Some profile details (such as name, profile photo, general location, services offered, reviews, and ratings) may be visible to other users as part of how the marketplace works.

7. Cross-Border Transfers

Personal information may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States, or other locations where we or our service providers operate.

Different countries may have different privacy laws. When we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to protect it in line with applicable law (for example, contractual protections and security measures).

By using the Platform, you understand that your information may be transferred and processed outside your province or country, as permitted by applicable law.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active, as needed to provide the Platform, or as required for legal, accounting, or reporting purposes.

We may retain certain information after account closure to:

  • Resolve disputes and enforce our Terms of Service,
  • Prevent fraud and abuse,
  • Comply with tax, financial, or other statutory legal obligations.

Communications and content related to Gigs may be retained for a period to support dispute resolution, safety investigations, and compliance. When data is no longer needed, we aim to delete or de-identify it in a secure manner.

9. Security & Safeguards

Technical & Organizational Protections

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to help protect personal information, such as encryption in transit (SSL/TLS), firewalls, access controls, and secure cloud storage.

Despite our efforts, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you share information at your own risk. You can help by using strong passwords, keeping your device and browser up to date, and notifying us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy legislation (such as PIPEDA):

  • Access: To ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: To request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: To ask us to delete certain information, subject to legal or contractual limits.
  • Consent withdrawal: Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it (for example, for marketing emails) without affecting prior processing.
  • Data portability: In some cases, to request certain information in a structured, commonly used format.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may be unable to fully respond where legal or legitimate business reasons require us to retain certain data.

11. Cookies & Similar Technologies

How We Use Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage, pixels, and SDKs) to help the Platform work and to improve your experience. These technologies help us:

  • Remember your preferences and keep you securely logged in,
  • Secure accounts and detect suspicious or unauthorized activity,
  • Understand how people use the Platform and optimize performance,
  • Personalize content and AI-powered features where appropriate.

Some cookies come from trusted service providers. Most browsers allow you to control or disable cookies through settings. However, blocking certain cookies may affect Platform functionality.

12. AI-Specific Practices

When you use AI features on bidToGig, we may temporarily store your prompts and the AI's responses to deliver the feature, improve quality, prevent abuse, and support safety reviews.

We may use aggregated and de-identified AI interaction data to improve our models and product decisions. We do not use AI to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without appropriate safeguards and human review.

You can choose not to use AI features; the rest of the Platform will remain available, subject to our normal terms.

13. Children & Age Restrictions

The Platform is intended strictly for individuals aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information and, where appropriate, close the account immediately.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, by email or in-app notifications).

Your continued use of the Platform after the updated Privacy Policy takes effect means you accept the changes, unless your local law requires a different form of consent.
